To access Digital Literacy Library content, click here.

Option 2  - E-learning sessions from the Microsoft IT Academy
(for those seeking to improve technical skills - beginners to advanced)

Step 1: Before beginning your first e-learning session, you will need:

• A valid HSPLS library card number and PIN (please see a library staff for assistance).

• A personal email account. If you do not already have an email account, click here to create an email account.  You will need an email account to create a Microsoft Windows Live ID account.

• A Windows Live ID. Click here for instructions on getting a Windows Live ID.

• If accessing courses with sound from inside of the library, you will need to bring a set of headphones or earphones.

• Courses must be viewed using Internet Explorer.

Step 2: Where will you be taking the courses?

• If you are using a library computer, our computer management reservation system will only allow 60-minute sessions. Your Windows Live ID is tied to the courses you select; if you need to continue beyond time allowed, the course will remember the point at which you finished and you can resume at the same point when you log in again. If you would like to reserve a library computer, click here.

• If you are taking the courses at home, please make sure your computer complies with Microsoft’s requirements for these courses. These requirements can be found by clicking here.

Step 3: Select an Access Code that matches your local library.

The e-learning courses range from basic to data center architecture and design; the courses are arranged in eight portfolios. Click on the link to the portfolio that you are interested in learning about.
