The collection is comprehensive and includes historical works as well as children's materials from all over the world. Its librarians provide a year round offering of story times on Saturdays, book talks and programs for children. Teachers are invited to schedule class visits by calling the section.

The outstanding Juliette May Fraser murals of Hawaiian legends are located in this room.
