Pearl City Public Library (Oahu) is scheduled
to undergo an air-conditioning upgrade project starting Monday,
September 14, 2009. The Library will remain open and maintain
the same public service hours for the duration of the renovation
project which is scheduled to be completed in approximately
eight months. The book drop will remain open after hours. The
majority of the construction work will occur in the parking lot.
During the project, some parking adjustments will be made and
modified parking spaces will be available. Patrons are advised
to use caution when using the parking lot and watch for new
informational signs that will be posted. All
previously-scheduled library programs will be suspended until
the project is completed due to limited available parking. An
announcement will be made when the renovation work is completed.
Kahului Public Library (Maui), is scheduled to
close for an air-conditioner replacement project beginning
Friday, February 19, 2010. The last day of public service will
be on Thursday, February 18. The Library's book drop will be
closed from 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 20 and will be
unavailable until the project is completed in a few months.
Books and materials can be returned to any of our public
libraries in the Hawaii State Public Library System. Patrons who
are waiting for requested items should contact Kahului Library
staff (ph. 873-3097) to arrange for pick up at another branch
location. Patrons may also visit the nearest libraries during
normal public service hours - Wailuku Public Library (251 South
High Street; ph. 243-5766), Makawao Public Library (1159 Makawao
Avenue; ph. 573-8785), or Kihei Public Library (35 Waimahaihai
Street; ph. 875-6833) - for their library service needs. An
announcement will be made in the future when Kahului Public
Library is scheduled to reopen.
